Q. What is a stringer?
A. A stringer refers to a writer or photographer who is not a full-time employee, but who is paid by the job. The term comes from the days when a writer would get paid by the column inch and would measure his or her contribution by holding a string along the story to measure its length, knot it, measure the next column or story, and so on, reporting the final length for pay.
Q. How long has On Scene Video been
shooting news footage?
A. On Scene Video has been capturing video for over
6 years. What started out as a hobby using Hi8 video equipment
has now turned into a fun and exciting "weekend side job"using
professional MiniDv cameras with all the extras.
Q. How can I acquire video/stills of a particular
clip or event?
A. Start by contacting On Scene Video via phone
or email. Please let OSV know which event you are interested in
and how you would like to acquire the media. Currently your options
for acquisition of video files are: SVideo transfer, composite
(RCA) transfer, electronically, DVD, or tape dub. We deliver all videos to your door
(unless you would rather pick them up yourself).
If you are interested in digital still images your acquisition
options are very simple. We can either e-mail them to you, or
drop them off (or you can pick them up). Remember we are available
24 hrs a day!
Q. Where
do we send tape returns?
A. Please contact OSV for a mailing address!
Q. How does payment work?
A. Payment is very simple when dealing with On Scene
Video. At the end of each month, OSV will send your organization
an invoice containing the previous months charges. Please make
all payments payable to On Scene Video. Our mailing address can
be found on your invoice.
Q. What copyrights do you
have on your media?
A. All video clips and images are copyrighted by
On Scene Video. Unless written authorization has been given, all
purchased media is licensed for use within your organization ONLY.
